Post documents and questions for the Scituate Grade 6 Narrative Task Here:

Students will read an excerpt from Tales of King Arthur, retold by Felicty Brooks, entitled Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. In the story, Sir Gawain's character is called into question through a series of mental and physical challenges. Towards the end of the story, the narrative jumps a full year to a point where Sir Gawain returns home to Camelot and is not recognized by his uncle, King Arthur. His armor is dented, he is bloodied and near death. The author does not provide an explanation as to why he appears this way. Students will be asked to create an original narrative describing what happened to Sir Gawain during the elapsed time. They should draw on their knowledge of his character based on their earlier reading.
